As we head towards the end of summer (hmm, summer disappeared a while ago I know, but not officially) and the nights start to draw in, our thoughts turn to… BATS! Dusk is early enough for us to hold our usual August and September Bat Walks – Friday 25th August at 8.15pm and Friday 22nd September at 7.15pm. We expect the event to last approximately 75minutes – finishing at 9.30 in August and 8.30 in September.
Hopefully some of our little pipstrelle bats will come out to feed as the skies darken, and hopefully you’ll be there to join us in looking out for them! Bats are of course wild creatures, so we can’t guarantee they will appear. Bats also don’t like windy or rainy weather so there is a chance the event could be cancelled completely – please keep an eye on our social channels – we will let you know by 1pm on the day of the event if we have to cancel. Everyone welcome – and yes we allow children on our Bat Walks!
Meet by the Parks & Gardens Division Office (opposite the Playground) just before the park closes
Please note that the park closes at 8.30pm in August and 7.30pm in September – so please turn up before the park closes. Also there will NOT be any opportunity to leave the park until the event finishes – and exit will be on to Portway only.
