The City of London are still being remarkably quiet about their plans to redevelop the Nursery Site, although they have now posted a Public Notice on the Park Gates. This was discussed at some length during the meeting, including asking all participants to write to CoL’s agent Savills, and object to the proposals such as they are
At 77 acres, West Ham Park is the largest park in Newham
It is owned and operated by the City of London Corporation (“CoL”) rather than Newham Council
Within the park is a large plant nursery site, which used to supply bedding plants for public occasions, including state banquets. In 2016 the CoL deemed it no longer financially viable and shut it down.
CoL now wants to develop this area of parkland with blocks of flats
Friends of West Ham Park held an online public consultation on Tuesday 29th March 2022 at 7.30pm with the aim of providing more details on the plans as we know them, as well as listening to the local community for their views on the CoL development and whether alternatives, including returning the area to open parkland, should be considered
